[Class 60] Comprises a speed-reducing gear mechanism for transmitting motion from the grinder shaft a to the right and left hand screwed shaft s which traverses the grinder of a machine for grinding the cylinders or doffers of carding engines, such as that described in Specification 25740/12, [CLass 60]. The removable bearing bush b of the shaft a is formed with a support or arm b1 carrying a stud d on which is mounted a double gear e, e1, the larger gear e being driven by a gear g1 formed on a bush g secured on the shaft a, and the smaller gear e1 driving through a gear h a sprocket wheel i turning on the bush g. The sprocket i is connected by a chain to a sprocket k on the shaft s. The gears are enclosed in a casing, the back part m of which is formed with a bracket m1 by which it is secured to the slide and to which the front part n of the casing is secured by studs.
