[Class 52 (v)] [See also Group XVIII] A device for stacking or piling fruit and the like comprises a framework or structure constituting both a former or guide to be worked to in the building of a pile and support against which the stacked fruit can lean. As shown in Figs. 1, 2, the device comprises frames 1 connected by nails 4 to lazy-tong-supporting members 2, each frame comprising a length of cane with overlapping ends 1a secured together by adhesive tape 6 or. rubber tubing. Alternatively, the ends 1a may be slidably mounted in bands 8, 9 and 10, Fig. 4, the bands 8 being secured to the members 2 by nails 4a. The device may be supported on a basket by pressing the ends 12 of the members 2 inwardly to grip frictionally the sides of the basket. The device may be distorted laterally or adjusted vertically to build stacks of various shapes and sizes. In a modification, the device comprises frames of graduated sizes provided with central bosses and arranged concentrically one above the other on a vertical rod. The bosses may serve as distance pieces, or pegs, collars or the like may be provided for the purpose.
