Improvements in manures for the cultivation of mushrooms

A manure for the cultivation of mushrooms is obtained by submitting starch-containing substances to a treatment to convert the starch into maltose, the maltose-containing substance being used as a manure in the presence of a substance which prevents alcoholic fermentation. The maltose may be used in a crystallized state or as a syrup in admixture with natural dung, urea or substances containing urea, e.g. urine. According to an example, malt wort, urea and straw are mixed together and this mixture is laid in successive heaps and is regularly wetted.
