[Class 100 (ii)] In an apparatus for casting stereotypes or backing thin electrotypes in accordance with the parent Specification, an additional transporting mechanism is provided to take the plate to a boring-apparatus. As shown, the fingers e carry the plate x into a cooling arch g, depositing it on rails 1 formed with hooks 2 at the ends nearer the mould. The rails are formed with teeth engaged by gear wheels 3 rotated by means of a segment 5 oscillated by a bevel wheel 6, which is driven by gearing from a motor 8 and drives the boring tool and a cam which serves to actuate levers to hold the plate in the arch. The reciprocation of the fingers e is effected by a lever l rocked by a bevel wheel 25 oscillated by a segment 27 under the control of a cam 26.
