Viscous solutions of salts of anaesthetic substances with hydroxy-carboxylic acids are prepared by adding to the solution a cellulose derivative soluble in water. Salts of anaesthetics with citric, glycollic, lactic and quinic acid are mentioned. Suitable cellulose derivatives are hydroxyethyl - methylcellulose and methylcellulose.
