[Classes 6 (i) and 6 (ii)] A machine for making holes in bowling greens, putting greens, &c. by removing small pieces of turf &c. comprises a hollow roller a mounted in a propelling frame and provided with tubular projecting members p sharpened at their ends and adapted to be forced into the ground by the weight of the machine as the roller travels, the plugs of turf cut passing through the cutters into the roller. The frame comprises longitudinal members c and cross-bolts g, g1, g2 and is provided with handles 2. An adjustable auxiliary sectional roller d may be mounted on the down - turned forward ends of the members c. Weights 4 may be placed on plates k on both sides of the machine, being held in place by uprights m. The hollow cutters p may be screwed into the roller a. The plugs of turf &c. cut by them are discharged from the interior of the roller laterally on to the ground, or into an end receptacle t, by an inclined and counterbalanced plate s within the roller. According to the Provisional Specification, the plugs of turf may be discharged from the roller by one or more inclined flanges.
