[Class 136 (iii)] In a saddle top of the type comprising a system of coiled-wire tension springs supporting the cover, the springs are connected to the peak and cantle plates (and also to the intermediate bridge member if such is employed) by the engagement of integral loops or eyes on the ends of the springs with hooks on the peak, cantle, and bridge plates, whereby any weakening of the ends of the springs caused by the formation of hooks thereon is avoided. The peak plate b, bridge member c, and cantle plate d are formed from sheet-metal pressings, and comprise systems of hooks b1, c3, c1, and d1 respectively for the attachment of the springs a, a1, the ends coils of which are bent out (e.g. at 45‹) to form loops or eyes. The tongues of the hooks may be bent to close the jaws after the spring loops have been engaged therewith.
