448,622. Materials for making coke. STEPHENSON, H. P., and ISRAEL, R. G., 14, Leadenhall Street, London. Dec. 7, 1934, Nos. 35244 /34, 35484/34, 35485/34, and 2823/35. [Class 55 (ii)] Coke or semi-coke is obtained by heating at temperatures above 450‹ C., a mixture of non- coking coal, such as lignite, brown coal, and oil with which is incorporated another carbonaceous or a resinous substance. A binding material is apparently extracted from the latter by the oil at high temperatures. The oil may comprise a petroleum crude or topped oil, a fuel oil, creosote oil, coal oil or an oil resulting from the distillation of one of these oils with or without coal. The incorporated material may consist of pitch, coal tar, asphaltic bitumen, asphalt, bituminous coal, natural or synthetic resins such as rubber, cumarone resin or rosin, or substances which resinify under heat, or mixtures of these materials. The solid materials are preferably pulverized. Temperatures of 640‹ and 600‹ C. are specified. Specification 341,877 is referred to.
