[Class 97 (i)] In apparatus comprising a friction disc c driving the mechanism through a friction wheel f variable in position thereon to vary the speed of drive, the wheel f is movable across the centre of the disc to reverse the drive, and the centre of the disc is recessed to prevent wear when the wheel is at its centre. The disc c is carried by the motor shaft b and pressed by a spring d towards a stop formed by a screw s. The wheel f is displaceable along its shaft g by a yoke i having a roller k extending through a slot m, into a slot q in a lever o carried by a shaft p rotatable by a hand lever r.
