[Class 140] [See also Group V] Perforated rubber sheets, bathing costumes, underwear, surgical stockings, &c. are made by spraying a layer, or layers which may be differently coloured, of latex on a metal or wooden former, having holes, with sharp edges, made by bevelling the edges from behind. Alternatively thin perforated metal sheets may be used. The articles are partially dried and stripped. When stripped, the second colour shows on the underside as a rim round the perforations. Elastic or other fabric may be pressed on one or both sides while still tacky. The fabric may be sprayed with latex before applying. The former may be heated by a current of air passing therethrough, and porous or hygroscopic material, e.g. plaster of Paris, may be applied before the latex, which may be prevulcanized.
