[Class 111] A scraper 4 for removing sediment and floating matter from a settling - tank is carried by one or more arms 5 which are slidably supported by rollers 8 on a carriage 1 moving on rails 2 over the tank. The scraper is shown in position for removing scum but it can be lowered vertically by means of a cable 13 and winding gear 12 to the position for scraping sediment from the bottom of the tank. The arms have hooks 7 which engage the rollers 8 in the lower position.
