[Class 69 (ii)] In a hydraulic transmitter or receiver comprising two parallel working cylinders, the actuating racks 13 are not rigidly connected to the pistons, blocks 15 of rubber &c. being interposed. The racks are prevented from moving inadvertently by spring-pressed members 21, which are themselves held by members 23. The bottoms of the cylinders are closed by a resilient plate 25, which may be distorted so that the volumes of the cylinders are simultaneously increased or decreased, or so that the volume of one cylinder is increased, while that of the other is decreased. As shown, the latter operation is effected through balls 31 by inclines 29, 30 on a member 28 axially displaced by a nut 26. In a modification, the cylinders are closed by pistons adjustable by a cam. By interposing resilient members between the pistons and cam, or between the plate 25 and member 28, excessive pressures can be relieved.
