摘要
Phthalocyanine dyes are prepared by heating the dinitrile of an aromatic o-dicarboxylic acid or a compound which can be converted into a dinitrile (i.e. o-cyanobenzamide, or diamides or imides of aromatic o-dicarboxylic acids) with a metal compound in presence of a mixture of a base of the pyridine or quinoline series and a diluent other than a pyridine or quinoline base, the amount of the latter being larger than that of the base of the pyridine or quinoline series. The metal compound is one capable of forming complexes with tertiary bases and is suitable for making stable metal phthalocyanines. The term "base of the pyridine or quinoline series" includes such bases as piperidine, picoline, lutidine and collidine. Suitable diluents for admixture with these bases are nitrobenzene, nitrotoluene, aromatic carboxylic acids, and the esters thereof such as diethyl-, dibutyl- or glycolesters of phthalic acid, mesitylene, anisol and other phenol ethers. In examples, (a) phthalodinitrile and cuprous chloride are heated together in pyridine and nitrobenzene; the latter may be replaced by nitrotoluene, phenol, phthalic acid diethyl ester, o-dichlorbenzene, mesitylene and trichlorbenzene; (b) cobalt chloride is reacted with pyridine, and the complex compound heated with phthalodinitrile in nitrobenzene: nickel nitrate is heated with pyridine and the resulting complex compound heated with phthalodinitrile in nitrobenzene. Specification 410,814 is referred to.
