469,823. Vitreous enamelling. HOLMAN, H. E. Feb. 1, 1936, No. 3102. [Class 56] A method of making a mosaic screen for television and like purposes consists in coating a metal grid with an enamel which has a relatively high fusing point and " wets " the metal, applying a second coating of enamel having a lower fusing point, then applying metal globules to the interstices of the grid, after the enamel has hardened, and heating the assembly to soften the second coating to secure adhesion between the globules and the enamel. The wires of the grid can be secured to one another in a similar manner. An enamel suitable for the first coating is composed of 31À6 per cent of borax, 37À2 per cent of felspar, 13À7 per cent of quartz, 8À2 per cent of cryolite, 3À1 per cent of potassium nitrate, and 6À2 per cent of soda. An enamel suitable for the second coating is composed of 59À7 per cent of borax, 4À8 per cent of fluorspar, 2À9 per cent of potassium nitrate, 3À8 per cent of soda, 23À0 per cent of felspar, 5À5 per cent of quartz, and 0À3 per cent of manganese dioxide. Specification 17091/92, [Class 64], is referred to.
