471,206. Gravity-separation apparatus. HARTLEY, C. J., and HARTLEY, E. March 5, 1936, No. 6624. [Class 111] Rotary scrapers for settling tanks are built of straight sections, each pivotally suspended by one or more chains or rigid links, the adjacent ends of the sections being loosely held together, so that they can rise and fall independently to accommodate themselves to irregularities on the bottom of the tank. As shown in Fig. 3, each scraper section 21 is suspended from an arm 14 of the rotary structure by two links 17. Both the links and the arm 14 having alternative points of attachment 19, 33, so that the effective length of the links can be adjusted. The links may be formed of two parallel members. One end of a scraper section 21 is forked at 23 to engage the adjacent end of the next section so as to keep it in alignment. As shown in Fig. 7, each link has bifurcated ends with threaded portions connected by a turn-buckle 32. Fig. 9 shows a modification in which each scraper section is suspended by a single link 17 and the sections are kept in alignment by jaws 34 carried by members 35 bolted to the arm 14.
