[Classes 6 (ii) and 58] Heating-apparatus for a soil-less cultivation cabinet for the germination of seeds and growth of seedlings comprises a heater and a baffle, the latter being formed with a passage for heated gases and being arranged substantially horizontal, and the heater being arranged to supply heated gases directly to the passage and to lie beneath the baffle so as to be protected by it from falling liquid. The cabinet may consist of a sheet-metal body 1 which is carried in a tray 2 supported on joists 3 and is provided with a door 4. Seed trays 6 are supported one above another on angle-section runners 5, and means are provided for periodically sprinkling liquid fertilizer on the top tray 6 through sprinkler roses 9 connected with a trough 7. The oil heater comprises a tank 10, a burner 11, and a chimney 13 projecting into the hollow baffle 14. This baffle passes under the trays and has a wide flattened part and a deeper rear part 15 ending in an asbestos plate 17 fastened by brackets to the wall of the cabinet. The heated air and gases pass through the baffle 14 and the cabinet and escape through a flue 16 passing through the trough 7. Heat is radiated from the baffle, and impurities in the heated gases are deposited in it. Access to the heater may be obtained through an .aperture normally closed by a louvre shutter 19.
