480,542. Liquid resistances. CROCKATT & SONS, Ltd., W., and CROCKATT, W. C. Aug. 29, 1936, No. 23720. [Class 37] In electrolytic cells for determining properties of liquids by measuring the electrical conductivity thereof, a removable insulating member 8 occupies substantially the whole space normally occupied by the liquid in the cell, and has one or more relatively narrow passages therethrough for the liquid, whereby the range of conductivities that can be measured is increased. The cell comprises, a cylindrical metal casing 1 in which insulating ends 2, 3 and an insulating disc 8, for example of " Mycalex " (Registered Trade Mark) separated therefrom by insulating joint rings 10 are secured by a clamping nut 11 and friction ring 13. Rubber packing washers 14 are fitted round the electrodes 4 the faces of which are washed by the electrolyte as it passes from the inlet 5 through one clearance space 12, the diagonal bore 9 in the disc 8 and through the other space 12 to the outlet 6. The disc 8 which is positioned by a screw 15 engaging a slot 16 therein may be replaced by other discs with different passages 9 or a disc or discs with a plurality of passages. Specifications 134,865 and 317,278, [both in Class 37], are referred to.
