[Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] An attachment or coupling for wire cables or ropes comprises a sleeve or the like of material of low tensile strength adapted to be forcibly closed round the cable and a union piece of high tensile strength welded to the sleeve portion. If desired, the union piece may be welded to the sleeve after application of the sleeve to the cable. In the form shown, the sleeve 1 of steel of 20 tons tensile strength is attached by welding at 3 to a screwed bolt of 60 tons tensile strength. Specifications 487,797 and 489,296 are referred to.
