Improvements in and relating to flap gates for closing the entrances and divisions of dry and wet docks

[Class 68 (ii)] In a flap gate for docks, hinged about a horizontal axis, as described in Specifications 13235/08, [Class 68], and 417,076, the lower edge is provided along some parts of its length with cylindrical supporting members and along other parts with arcuate members adapted to resist only horizontal thrusts. Towards the ends of the lower edge of the gate 10, Fig. 4, may be provided a cylindrical member 11 resting in a bearing 13 extending through an angle of more than 180‹. The remainder of the lower edge has an arcuate thrust member 12, Fig. 5, bearing against a support 15. The lower or supporting part 13c, Fig. 6, of the main bearing may be slidable to permit displacement should the gate .be fouled by an obstruction when being closed.
