496,807. Hard courts for games. SPURRIER, J. M. Aug. 11, 1938, No. 23672. [Class 20 (iv)] A hard court for tennis or other games is provided with a main layer composed of crushed granite rejects or waste, which is defined as granite with naturally-accompanying impurities in the form of clay or marly material. The crushed granite is used without any other binder than is provided in the material itself. The proportion of granite in the material should not be less than 50 per cent to ensure that the impervious characteristics of the marl or clay do not affect the porosity of the court. The granite waste may be of a reddish colour. The court may be sprinkled with a top dressing colouring material of a non- binding nature ; a material of a silica or quartzite base is suitable for this purpose.
