[Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group XVIII] In order to effect the illumination of the inside of a shop window by means of daylight, and to render the window non-reflecting, a pair of vertically spaced, slightly inclined soffits are arranged at the top front part of the window space, the lower soffit being translucent to allow the passage of light reflected between the soffits from an outside inclined reflecting surface. In the construction shown, the upper soffit 16 made of light-reflecting material and the lower soffit.17 of frosted or like glass, are joined by a vertical clear glass panel 19 disposed approximately midway in the window space, light being reflected between the soffits from the rear portion 14 of a saddle-roof awning 13, 14, the apex of which is connected to a roller 10 by wire netting 12, or other lightpermeable material. The upper soffit may be continued rearwardly behind the panel 19 as an inclined reflecting panel 20, and the lower soffit continued in the form of a horizontal obscured glass panel 21.
