[Class 135] A system for the measurement and regulation of the height of a liquid column includes means, such as a diaphragm, subject to the hydrostatic pressure of the column and a weight loading acting in opposition to said pressure, the opposing action of the weight varying when the inclination of the column to the vertical varies so as to compensate at least approximately for variation in pressure due to such change in inclination. In the form shown the diaphragm 6 is loaded by a weight 10 carried by a member 8 guided by a pair of slotted links 12, 12' pivoted to the casing and the member 8. The upper side of the diaphragm is subject to the hydrostatic pressure due to the water level in the boiler 1 and steam pressure in the boiler while the under side is subject to the hydrostatic pressure due to the water level in an elevated tank 3 and the steam pressure in the boiler. The member 8 engages a depression in a lever 14 which controls a relay (not shown). When the elevated tank is not vertically above the boiler the axis of the pressure responsive device is, inclined to the vertical by the same angle as the imaginary line connecting the vessels 1 and 3. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 shows the application of the invention, to the control of a fluid-pressure servomotor having a swinging jet control and a loading spring follow-up mechanism. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
