[Class 51 (i)] Water-cooled ports for furnaces such as the gas ports of reversible regenerative furnaces, comprise a main cooler formed by walls 7, 8 and an auxiliary cooler consisting of a tube 12 which extends along the lower edges of the. main cooler and around the arched nose thereof. Water is supplied to the auxiliary cooler and flows therefrom through a pipe 17 to a trough 19 in communication with the, main cooler. An opening 20 is also provided in the auxiliary cooler to allow it to communicate with the main cooler at the nose thereof. The auxiliary cooler is welded to the main cooler and is arranged adjacent to the refractory wall 14. Flushing pipes 22 and wash-out pipes 23 are provided on the main cooler as well as a clearing opening 24.
