[Class 140] Paper, cardboard, wood-pulp, strawboard and textiles of cotton, silk or wool are rendered impermeable to water and solvents such as alcohol, ether, petroleum and chloroform by impregnation with an aqueous composition comprising gelatine, glycerine and a soap such as sodium or potassium oleate, palmitate or stearate to which aluminium sulphate and plasticizers and an ethyl palmitate may be added, followed by treatment with aqueous formaldehyde. The product may be dried at atmospheric temperature or passed between heated rolls.
