[Class 17 (ii)] An insole for a welted or cemented shoe comprises a flexible leather layer 11, a leather cover 12 and a canvas backing 13, the edges of the cover and backing being turned down as shown at 15 to form a lip. At the shank, the marginal edges are notched and turned inwards to a point 14, Fig. 4. The forward part of the backing may be transversely slashed, and the composite insole, with all the parts cemented together, may be moulded substantially to the shape of the bottom of the foot. The forward part of the layer 11 may have an elongated oval aperture or recess in the region of the ball of the foot.
