[Class 81 (i)] A liver derivative of value for oral administration in cases of undue uterine haemorrhage is obtained by dissolving from liver portions soluble in a fat solvent, saponifying the extract with alkali and separating the unsaponifiable residue. The liver may be extracted with 60 to 80 per cent alcohol, the solution being evaporated and extracted with a solvent, which is then evaporated and the residue saponified, the unsaponifiable residue being finally crystallized to remove cholesterol.
