[Class 81 (i)] In a process and apparatus for producing a mixture of carbon dioxide and ethylene oxide for fumigating purposes a slush or fluent mixture of ethylene oxide and solid carbon dioxide is heated to vaporize the mixed compounds. A mixture of from 3 to 12 parts of carbon dioxide to one of ethylene oxide is employed. The apparatus used consists of a low pressure vessel 1 having a lid 2 for introduction of solid carbon dioxide, an inlet 3 for ethylene oxide, an inlet 4 for scavenging air, and an outlet pipe 6 for the vaporized mixed vapours. The outlet pipe passes below the vessel 1 and thence to the outlet 8 through the steam or water jacket 9 to which steam is supplied by a distributer 11.
