[Class 87 (ii)] An extrusion nozzle comprises means for heating the extrusion passage and means for varying the cross-sectional area of the said passage over a substantial length without varying the cross-sectional shape of the passage and without altering the extrusion aperture. Fig. 1 shows a nozzle in which the extrusion aperture is formed between a conical element 1 and a sleeve 4, both mounted in a sleeve 6 which can be adjusted longitudinally with respect to the casing A by screwing or unscrewing at 9. This adjustment results in a reduction or increase in the cross-sectional area of an annular passage 14 formed between a conical surface 11 on the sleeve 6 and a conical surface 12 on the screw s. Means may be provided to indicate the adjustment of the nozzle. Electrical heating elements are shown at h. Modifications, all including the contractible annular conical passage 14, are described, for making coated wires and solid sections.
