573,806. Hot-water boilers. COOPER, J. F. Jan. 26, 1944, No. 1484. [Class 64 (i)] A water boiler for use with domestic ranges firegrates and stoves burning solid fuel is provided with a flue which extends through it and constitute: a substantia length of the chimney, the flue being wholly or partly heat-insulated from the boiler to prevent the flue gases from being excessively chilled when the fire is lit. The flue and the outer wall of the boiler mav be concentric cylinders, the flue being wholly or partly lined with firebrick, or the outer casing may be of elongated cross-section and may contain two or more parallel cylindrical flues one of which is lined with firebrick. In another form, Fig. 7, the outer and inner walls 13, 14 of the boiler are each of elongated crosssection. Two partitions 15, 16 of firebricks or tiles divide the passage into three parallel flues 17, 18, 19 each controlled by a damper 20, 21, 22. The boiler may be enclosed in a rectangular casing containing insulating packing. The flue walls and partitions 15, 16 may be corrugated. In another form, Fig. 9, the flue is again of elongated cross-section, and is divided into three passages containing dampers 27, 28, 29 by a firebrick or like cylinder 23 which fits into curved recesses in the sides of the flue. As shown, the cylinder 23 may stop short of the top of the boiler, the inner wall of which may be shaped to form a restricted outlet 26. The dampers may be interconnected to operate under the control of a single lever.
