[Class 120 (ii)] In a ring spinning &c. machine, a retardation is introduced in the movement 'of the ring rail, during the formation of the taper at the base of the cop, by displacing the builder chain B due to the engagement of a block C interposed between the links thereof with a roller D carried on the spindle rail or some other part of the machine. The block C may be formed with projections C' on both sides to which the links of the builder chain are attached at B2. An indication mark C2 is arranged to contact the roller at the lowest position of the ring rail. The length of the base taper of the cop is varied by adjusting the roller D in a slot on the spindle rail.
