[Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] In a hurricane lamp which is provided with a supporting member on which are mounted a pair of guides 8, 18 for a transparent, or translucent, cylinder 19 and in which an externallythreaded wick tube 4 engages in an internallythreaded sleeve 3 in the fuel container, the supporting member has a depending annular flange bearing closely at all points against the top 2 of the container. The annular flange may be formed on a lid 9 connected by gauze 10 with the lid 8, which may have a central opening covered by gauze 21. The upper end of the cylinder 19 may be received by gauze 22 mounted in the lid 18 which may be slidable on members 14, 15 bent under the lid 9 and soldered to it. A disc 23, spaced from the lid 18 by projections 24, may be provided to allow fumes to escape through holes 26 in the lid, this lid being removable by a ring 29 after the upper ends 28 of wire members 27 hinged in the gauze 10 have been disengaged from the top of the lid. A wire loop 25 may be provided as a handle, and the wick 7 may be adjusted by a keyed, toothed wheel 11.
