[Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group XXX] In screw-and-nut mechanisms of the ballthrust type, which may be used in jacks, actuators and the like for operating for example retractable undercarriages on aircraft, the balls are directed into or scraped out of the helical groove in the nut 6, Fig. 2, by fingers 10 on rings 11 which are held against the end faces of the nut by members 14, 15, Fig. 1. The fingers are integral with the rings 11 which are formed by machining from the solid and prevented from turning with respect to the nut by the engagement of keys 12 with slots 13. The return track 17 for the balls is formed on the exterior of the nut and connects extensions on the end faces of the helical groove.
