摘要
642,770. Rivets. BLACKBURN AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and DOUGLAS, L. C. Dec. 19, 1947, No. 33629. [Class 89(i)] [Also in Group XXII] Rivets, for use in blind holes, have a solid shank 1 with a head 2 coned to fit the 'bottom of the hole as left by the drill. A sleeve 3 is driven by a hollow tool 6 to force its end over the conical surface 2b, and expand it into a chambered out part of the hole. The projecting end of the shank 1 is then riveted over to secure an object, such as the plate 4, in place. The shank may be of aluminium and the sleeve of steel or both parts may be of aluminium alloys that for the sleeve being harder than that for the shank. Specification 570,735 is referred to.
