摘要
Rosin acids are separated from rosin or tall oil by dissolving in an organic solvent in which rosin acids are soluble but their cyclohexylamine salts are not, treating the solution with cyclohexylamine and separating off the salt at a temperature at which it is solid, e.g. room temperature. Specified solvents are naphtha, mineral spirits, petroleum ether, acetone and alkyl alcohol white the concentration of rosin in the solution preferably varies up to 40 per cent. The material to be treated may comprise disproportionated rosin or pine oleoresin and the separated salt may be hydrolysed, e.g. by means of hydrochloric or sulphuric acids to give pure rosin acids. The process is particularly applicable to the separation of the rosin acids and fatty acids in tall oil. Specification 652,370 is referred to.
