Class 20(i) In the erection of a building, slabs previously prepared to the size of inner or partition room walls, ceilings and floors and equipped with the additional structural parts for the completion of rooms, are assembled on to a previously erected skeleton frame, so that the joints occur in the room corners. The slabs may comprise gypsum sheets covered on both sides with cardboard and arranged in two layers with staggered joints in the respective layers, or the sheets could be mounted on a framework of the same material. The slabs may be made in one piece, e.g. of gypsum, preferably with a reinforcing layer, e.g. of paper foil. textile fabric, fibrous material or a synthetic resin. Alternatively, the slabs may be made of plywood or woodfibre sheets. The slabs may consist of two like sheets with an interposed layer of lower specific gravity. Preferably the slab faces constitute finished wall surfaces to dispense with papering or painting. For a ceiling slab one face may be formed of plaster or of wood. Switchboards, boilers and other installational parts are preferably fitted in built-in housings supplied completely fitted with the slabs. The prefabricated slabs are preferably edged with wooden strips which protect them during transport and serve for stiffening and securing the slabs in their final positions. Metal channelling may be used for stiffening the bottom edges of wall slabs. The outsides of the supporting skeleton are covered with slabs having an aluminium foil, fibrous or other heat insulating layer on their outsides which together with the outer covering of the building provide adequate heat insulation.
