Class 125(iii) A non-snapping closure 18 for a rigid or flexible container 10 is moulded from a resilient substance such as polyethylene which has a slow rate of elastic recovery and has a straight, concave, or convex web 19 carrying a U-shaped rim 23 which is adapted to be pressed over and grip the upper beaded, or plain, sides of the container 10. The inner width of the rim 23 is either made less than the width of the upper edge of the container or the inside diameter of the outer wall 21 of the rim 23 is made less than the outer diameter of the upper edge of the container 10. If a local depression of the web 19 is maintained while the last part of the rim 23 is applied to the container a partial vacuum in the latter is provided. The whole, or lower edge only, of the outer wall 21 is thickened to aid removal from a mould when the rim 23 is undercut to fit conically-shaped containers. In a modification the closure is adapted to seal a hollow stopper fitted to a container.
