673,602. Reciprocatory filing. AKTIE. BOLAGET DENTATUS. Aug. 22, 1950 [Aug. 23, 1949; Nov. 26, 1949], No. 20736/50. Class 83 (iii). [Also in Group XXIII] The tool-carrier 102 of a reciprocatory hand tool for filing, grinding, and like operations is reciprocated in a cylinder 103 by a crank mechanism 108 to which it is connected by a rod 107 and a hemispherical member 109 that allows free angular movement of the carrier about its own axis. A sleeve 115, which is rotatable on the cylinder 103 but is prevented from moving axially by a flange 117, is provided with a slot 106 which guides the tool reciprocations by the engagement in it of a boss 101 for a tool-clamping screw 104. A split collar 118 has a pair of handles 121 and 122, one of which serves as a clamping screw, and can be clamped on the sleeve 115, either in the rear position, as shown, in which a pin 123 on the casing engages a slot 124 in the collar and so locks the sleeve and tool-carrier in fixed angular position, or at a point along the sleeve within convenient reach of the operator's forefinger and middle finger so that he can vary the angular adjustment as required. If the clamping screw 121 is released, the tool-carrier is free to adjust itself about its own axis, according to the working plane. A spring 110 is fitted between the tool-carrier and a plunger 111 bearing on the conical end of the connecting-rod 112 and allows the tool to retract if undue resistance is encountered.
