Class 110(i) [Also in Group XXXV] In a vacuum cleaner in which an impeller is mounted on the shaft of an electric motor which is itself insulated from the cleaner body, the accessible surfaces of the impelter are electrically insulated from the motor to prevent the possibility of electric shock on failure of the motor winding insulation. In a preferred form, shown, the fabricated or diecast metal impeller 2, having a screwed-in pulley 3 for a belt driven brush, is secured to the motor shaft 8 through a disc 9 of resin or resin bonded paper having a screwed nut at its centre and rivetted to the impeller. Alternatively the major part of the impeller could be of insulating material or a metal impeller could be covered with an insulating layer. Specification 669,558, [Group XXXV], is referred to.
