Boxes or cartons in which ice cream sandwiches are formed (see Group VI) comprise means within their interiors for supporting two wafers 7 in spaced relationship so that ice cream can be fed therebetween and subsequently hardened. The wafer supporting means may be shouldered or channel portions 6, Fig. 1, or folds 8, Fig. 4, formed in the end walls 3, 4 of the box or carton or they may be provided by relatively narrow flaps extending inwardly from the tops of the end walls together with upwardly directed flanges of an insert resting on the bottom of the box. Alternatively, a U-shaped insert 30 may have flanges 31, 32, Fig. 14, extending inwardly from the base and sides respectively or from the sides only, Fig. 13 (not shown) to provide channels for the wafers, or such channels may be provided by making the upright walls of the insert narrower than the end walls of the carton. A number of such cartons may be packed in an open topped box for filling and storage.
