Improvements in thread protectors for the fastening-threads of buttons

A thread protector for a button 1 comprises a separate substantially hyperbolic sheath 4 which rests on the fabric 3 at one end has a flat button-contacting flange 5 at the other. A button having the usual holes 2 is attached by thread 6 as shown; if the button has no holes the sheath may be doublewalled or vertical holes may be formed in an otherwise solid sheath so that the sheath can be sewn to the fabric, after which the button is secured to the flange 5 either by adhesive or if either the button or sheath or both are of thermo-plastic by heat-sealing. The sheath may be of e.g. rubber, plastic, casein or metal.
