Class 34 (ii) Apparatus for drying grass &c. has a chamber 18 open at the top and horizontal rails 19 on which containers 11, having open work tops and bottoms 16, are supported by central wheel supports 15 to form a ceiling to the chamber 18 so that drying gas ascending from the chamber passes through the grass, the containers 11 being transported along the rails on the wheel 15 and being rotatable about the wheels to reverse the position of the container. Heated air is passed into the chamber 18 through a pipe 22 by a fan 23 via a manifold 24 having control valves 25. In a modified form of chamber, a central partition provides two subchambers having separate supplies of air and in another modification one subchamber has a hood to enable the drying gas to be returned for re-circulation. In a further modification (Fig. 7) a central partition 26 is fixed and a movable partition 32 provides sub-chambers 33, 34. Wet grass is placed above chamber 34 and some of the air from chamber 27 is recirculated through chamber 33, the remainder passing through the wet grass over chamber 34 and thence to the atmosphere. The containers 11 have opposite side walls 12, 1, each provided with a pair or coacting hinged flaps 13, through which the containers are loaded or unloaded. After drying has proceeded for a period the containers are turned over on their wheels 15 to reverse the direction of flow of the heated air through the grass.
