Improvements relating to the control of sugar beet diseases

Sugar beet seeds are treated before sowing with a composition containing water-soluble boron compound and a non-boron fungicide, the boron compound being substantially inert to the other ingredients of the composition. Suitable boron compounds include boric acid and borax. Specified fungicides are tetramethylthiuram disulphide, phenyl mercury chloride, ethylmercury isothiocarbonide hydrochloride, and diethylmercury orthophosphate. The composition may contain inert carrier materials such as gypsum, chalk, slate dust, or diatomaceous earth, or a water soluble carrier such as soda ash.
