Class 39(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] Relates to television transmitting apparatus (see Group XL(b)) of the type described in Specification 656,069 in which the target 8 of an image iconoscope is scanned by a beam of electrons released by a flying spot scanner 1 scanning the same area of the photo-cathode 6 as that on which the image is projected. According to a feature of the invention, two image iconoscope units are provided within a common envelope and arranged so as to be scanned by a common scanner, the light from which is split into two beams and directed through lenses 4, 4SP1/SP on to respective areas of a common photo-cathode 6. To permit the light spots to be projected onto the photo-cathode from the rear, the targets are made semi-transparent in the form of a sheet of mica backed by a semitransparent metallic film. A screen 20 separates the two targets to prevent interference due to secondary electrons from one reaching the other.
