PICT:0705250/III/1 An apparatus for use in determining the content of explosive gas present in gas-air mixtures comprises a combustion chamber 3 enclosed in the housing 1 of a compressed air driven electric generator 2, which housing also contains the connections to a heater in the combustion chamber; the combustion chamber being surrounded by a stream of compressed air. Gas connections to the p combustion chamber are connected in an explosion proof manner, i.e., in the form of non return valves 10 to an analysing instrument disposed outside the housing. A compressed air turbine 7 drives the generator whilst the flow of gas-air mixture is induced by the injector pump 13.
