Class 98(2) An operational method of positive image production by migratory transfer of unexposed portions of silver halide from an exposed emulsion layer to transfer material and reduction thereon to silver during development comprises passing a continuous web as of paper coated with a gelatin emulsion containing silver ion precipitants over the top of a roller rotatable in a trough containing developing solution to moisten the coating, conveying the transfer material web over a feed board in such a manner that the moistened surface is turned face upwards,. and passing separate sheets of exposed negative material with emulsion surfaces downwards one after the other on to successive portions in the length of the transfer material web as it passes over the feed board towards the nip of a pair of pressure rollers whereby the two materials are pressed into intimate contact. The transfer material web may then be cut with a knife after the trailing edge of each negative sheet has passed the pressure rollers and the negative sheet discarded.
