Process for extracting the ricinoleic oil, castor oil

Drying oils are obtained by heating castor oil in the liquid phase at a temperature of 200 DEG -300 DEG C. in the presence of a solid, highly surface-active dehydrating catalyst having an average particle size of 4-50 millimicrons. The water formed by dehydration is distilled off and the catalyst is subsequently removed by filtration. The catalyst may be activated silica, activated calcium silicate, activated aluminium silicate, activated aluminium oxide or titanium oxide. The oil and catalyst are heated together in an inert atmosphere of carbon dioxide.
