Apparatus for removing fluff and dust from a revolving flat carding machine comprises a filter box a connected to a source of suction and ducts d, e, f, g leading to branches h, i, j, k, m located respectively across the machine beneath the lap feeder plate, above the feed rollers, at the front and rear ends of the chain of flats and above the doffer. Each branch has a slot extending over its full length and is preferably tapered. There may be a hinged flap n pivotedto the branch m to assist in collecting dust laden air from the doffer. When stripping the doffer, the branch m with plate n may be swivelled clear of the doffer.
