A pleated skirt or like pleated garment has a draw-string passing through the pleats at the waist portion, whereby the garment can. be closed into a single stack of pleats. An open pleated skirt 1 having co-operating buttons 6 and buttonholes 7 or other fastenings on its longitudinal edges has the pleats secured to a waistband and one or more draw-strings or belts 9 passing through the pleats. A buckle or other fastening 10 is provided on each belt.
