A frame in the unfolded condition for pleating flared skirts or other garments, consists of a part annulus of inner radius about 65 centimetres and outer radius at least 1.65 metres, the angle alpha between the bounding radii of the part annulus being between about 103 degrees and 115 degrees. A number of radial pleats of the frame may be inverted over a part of their lengths between openings k, k1, Fig. 12, distributed in a herring-bone or other pattern.
