Treatment of diamond bearing material to facilitate recovery of the diamonds

Diamond-bearing material is classified into distinct size ranges whereupon each size range is milled until a portion is smaller than the original lower limit of size and the remaining portion of each size range is separated for subsequent treatment. The portion remaining from the milling of the large size range material may be added to the next smaller size range material to assist in its milling and so on. The remaining portions or portion obtained from the above treatments may then be treated, e.g. by the process of Specification 731,138 for the recovery of the diamonds.
